I’m so happy that Craft NS is having a show again, Fall wouldn’t be complete without it! Such an amazing list of local artisans, I’m honoured to be joining them. Link to event is here.
these wraps are lighter than air, which means they can be worn lots of different ways. While they look delicate, nuno felted piece are sturdy and long wearing.
A confection of vintage striped silk, sweetened with merino and silk felt. Wear it multiple ways using the handmade chestnut fallen branch pin.
Vintage japanese silk spins with 3-D felt bobbles, leaves and details. Wear it multiple ways with the handmade chestnut, fallen branch pin.
Layers of vintage silk and sari scraps adorn this jewel toned, nuno felted, cobweb wrap. Use the handmade chestnut pin to wear it multiple ways and each side provides a different look.
I’ve been trying my hand at seamless felting, starting with a giant piece of old flooring underlay, cut into a resist. These pieces are part of my geological series.
The base layer of this wrap jacket is a beautiful piece of hand-painted silk, with layers of merino and silk felt. A piece of vintage beaded silk and the geode pin reflect the beautiful sparkle of these amazing natural forms. The jacket can be worn multiple ways, with felt or silk side out.
Nuno felted vest echoes the layers in rock and the beauty of geodes. Wear it multiple ways with the geode pin. It can be worn multiple ways for a completely different look. This piece was my donation for Craft NS’s Aestival.
In prep for the Evergreen Festival, things have been buzzing in the studio….

There’s something almost otherworldly about this delicate nuno felted wrap. It ripples and moves with 3-D leaves, roots , branches, and delicate swaths of eco-printed silk. There’s so many different ways to wear it, each one revealing a new perspective and detail.
UP close and personal…
Seems I prefer the making to the recording! I’ve been very busy with all kinds of new pieces over the Fall and Winter 2019-20 but none have made it to the website yet!
So, here’s a snippet of this years works with more to come. My menagerie continues to grow with lots of dramatic dragons inspired by GOT, seals from looking out the window at Aspotogan (Mi’kmaq for where the seals come in and go out), the ever favourite foxes utilizing colourful vintage men’s plaid scarves.
I’ve also really been enjoying using resists to create seamless pieces, like my one piece “Peas on Earth” cowl with 3D pea pods on vintage acid green silk and “SuperHero” , a reversible cowl with lightening bolt cutouts revealing the neon coloured sari silk underneath.
This season also saw a lot of felt lace, using the amazing self healing properties of wool to create delicate patterns of different shapes and holes.
